Peter Oram

PLANT BUSINESS

Crane safety consultant Peter Oram has died, aged 69, after a long illness.

While at the Health and Safety Executive, Mr Oram led the development of the safety standard BS7121 in 1989. Many in the crane industry credit this standard with revolutionising the use of cranes, since it promoted the importance of lift planning, introducing the concept of the Appointed Person, rather than simply relying on the crane operator for the lift.
