Pettifer Construction goes into administration

Pettifer Construction is understood to have gone into administration today with the loss of up to 150 jobs.

The Shipston-on-Stour based firm is run by managing director Chris Pape who joined the company from Carillion in January with a mission to revitalise the organisation.

The firm is the contracting arm of the Pettifer Group, one of the country's biggest remaining family-run contractors. It operates in the South-east and West Midlands across sectors which include retail, residential, retirement homes, leisure and commercial.

Major clients include Morrisons, Colney, Hanover and Intercounty Properties.

The group was formed in 1955 by Tom Pettifer and currently has sites in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow. The group employs around 350 people.
