PFI bids dumped

THE SCOTTISH Office has scrapped a £15 million privately-financed scheme to rationalise Balfour Hospital at Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles.

The move is a bitter blow to three consortia short-listed for the deal in Easter this year. The dumped bidders are: Consort Healthcare (fronted by Balfour Beatty and Morrison); Canmore (featuring M J Gleeson); and a local group including Tulloch Construction.
