Pipeline dream

Amec has denied reports that it is launching legal action against oil giant BP after cracks were found in a vast pipeline running through Eastern Europe. An article in this week's Sunday Times claims the contractor and Greek firm Consolidated Contractors International Company are suing BP after it covered up a safety flaw on the 1,000-mile pipe across Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Turkish Mediterranean.

An Amec spokesman said: 'There is no truth in the claim we are suing BP, they are one of our best clients.'
