Plans submitted for Leeds leisure centres

An application has been submitted for the construction of a new leisure centre in the Leeds suburb of Armly.

The new complex is one of two planned by the city council with funding of £30 million through the Government’s Private Finance Initiative.

The second, an application for which will go to planning authorities on Thursday, is proposed for Morley.

Subject to approval the council aims to appoint a contractor for work to begin later this year. The new buildings are scheduled for completion in 2010.
