Pre-built bathrooms on the rise

WILLMOTT Dixon expects to sign a deal next month which will see it nearly double the amount of prefabricated bathrooms it uses on its housing schemes.

The firm is talking to a number of suppliers about lifting the number of bathrooms it can use in its general housing schemes from the current 300 units to over 500 from 2006 onwards.

Innovation director Brendan Ritchie said contracts would be signed by early July. He added: 'It will allow us to build much faster at no extra cost.'

The bathrooms are craned in and can be plumbed in within an hour.
