Precast concrete sewer cuts installation times

MATERIALS

A PRECAST concrete sewer system that can help cut out the misery of road closures has been installed as part of a sewer management programme in north-east England.

Durham-based contractor Lumsden & Carrol placed a precast concrete combined sewer overf low in Geneva Road, Darlington, as part of Northumbrian Water's asset management programme.

Manufactured by Hanson Building Products, the precast concrete CSO took just five hours to install from initial lift through to the completion of the base, main and weir walls.

The new system can help cut the overall road closure time down to days rather than weeks, according to designer MWH.
