Cheap hotel firm Premier Inn has added eight hotels to its building programme.
The hotelier has exchanged on five sites and got planning permission for a further three, according to an interim management statement from its parent company Whitbread.
The hotels in Cambridge, Farnborough, Widnes, Dartford, Paignton, High Wycombe, Newton Abbot and Dorchester contribute to its target to open 26 new hotels in 2010/11 and have 55,000 rooms in the UK by the end of 2013/14.
Coffee chain Costa, which is also owned by Whitbread, plans to open 300 new stores in 2010/11 and at least 3,000 by the end 2014/15.
Whitbread’s sales grew 14 per cent for the 39 weeks to 2 December 2010 compared to the same period a year earlier.
