CONSTRUCTIONLINE has introduced a web-based IT system to make it easier for companies to use the prequalification service.

Buyers will be able to identify suitable firms to invite to tender for contracts and suppliers can provide prequalification information.

Elizabeth Whatmore, head of the construction sector unit at the Department of Trade and Industry, said: 'The system has been developed to meet the needs of buyers and industry and is more responsive to future changes in procurement.' Other improvements include a facility for suppliers to use buyer feedback as a reference to maintain registration and to receive alerts when buyers click on their details.
