Preston builder fined over asbestos danger

A building contractor based in Preston, Lancashire, has been hit with more than £15,000 in penalties after exposing two workers from another company to asbestos.

Mr Mustaq Bargit, trading as M and B Builders, of Victoria Road, Fulwood, was fined £10,000 and ordered to pay costs of £5,138.

A Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman said the contractor had been made aware of the possible presence of asbestos on the site at the centre of the case but failed to take the necessary precautions.
