Proskills hosts launch of £1.2m training fund

Proskills will host the launch of a £1.2 million Construction Skills Action Plan project for Scotland designed to support training for companies from the building products to the glass and glazing industries.

The project is funded by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, managed by Proskills, and will provide Scottish companies in the supply chain to construction with access to funding up to 50 per cent of the training costs until the end of March 2010.

Scottish Enterprise senior director of skills and learning Stephanie Young and Proskills chief executive Terry Watts will attend the launch in Glasgow, along with around 30 companies already committed to improving training in their sector.

Ms Young said: "Scottish Enterprise Glasgow is delighted to be working with Proskills to support their ambitious programme through the Construction Skills Action Plan for the development of their industry.

"This is a positive step towards increasing the skills levels in Scotland and I look forward to working in partnership with Proskills to help realise their ambitions."
