Provide some relief and keep (s)miling

Sir, The nation is limbering up for the return of Sport Relief on Saturday July 15. At the heart of the campaign, the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile is going to see 10s of thousands of people simultaneously going the distance and helping to raise cash for those who need it most, at events across 15 major cities as well as at hundreds more locally organised sites.

The last Sport Relief Mile in 2004 attracted 81,000 milers including prime minister Tony Blair, and we want to encourage readers to enter with their workmates as a team. By challenging colleagues and getting sponsored you can help raise lots of cash for vulnerable people leading tough lives here at home in the UK, and in the poorest countries in the world.

When you sign up for the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile you'll be sent a special red sock to wear on the day. Once you've completed your mile you'll be presented with a second to make a pair and show the world you've socked it to poverty.
