Pump clampdown

THE DRIVER and Vehicle Licensing Agency is not allowing any grace period for concrete pump hirers, following a Court of Appeal ruling that the pumps should be reclassified as HGVs.

The DVLA has written to all hirers informing them that they should register the vehicle as an HGV with immediate effect. From now on, any company using nonHGV registered pumps, using drivers without an HGV licence, or using discounted 'red' diesel, faces fines of up to £25,000.
