Queue forms to clinch Docklands rail station

FOUR teams are pricing the Docklands Light Railway's £13 million contract to build a new station in east London.

Hochtief, Gleeson, Mowlem and Taylor Woodrow are all working up bids for work at Stratford, which will be funded by Transport for London.

The two-platform station has been designed to meet current and future commuter needs.

One bidder said: 'It is not so much the scheme itself as it is the position of the scheme. If you get this job, it's a nice foot in the door for more work that the DLR is planning in that area.'

Docklands Light Railway will announce the winning contractor next month.Work is due to start in April.
