Race hate crime soars 29pc

Race hate crime soared 29 per cent last year, it was announced today.
The Crown Prosecution Service prosecuted 4,660 defendants for racially-aggravated offences in England and Wales in 2004/05, up from 3,616 in the previous 12 months.

The number of religiously-aggravated cases dropped to 34 from 49 the year before.
