Rail carnage

Industry safety watchdog the Rail Safety and Standards Board has blamed poor method statements, lack of planning and poor training for some of the worst trackside safety statistics since the early 1990s.With two major incidents at Teebay and Hednesford, there were eight trackside fatalities in 2004, the highest number since 1991.There were also 124 serious injuries, up from 83 in 2003.
