Rail shortage

PLANT BRIEFS

There is a significant shortage of specialist rail tradesmen ? particularly fitters for trackside plant and track lighting electricians ? according to Arthur Broadberry, engineering and safety director for Balfour Beatty Rail Plant.

He said: 'Our lighting division has expanded and we are finding it hard to recruit electricians to match it.' He added that Balfour Beatty Rail was looking to take on an extra 800 workers each year.
