Recruiters set up industry group

THE RECRUITMENT industry's trade body launched a specialist construction sector last week as demand for building workers continues to soar.

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation has set up a group for specialist construction recruitment and staffing agencies.

Chair of the Construction Group is Trevor Rees from Malla. He said: 'With the countdown to the Olympics starting to gather pace and major projects ongoing all over the country it has become vital to form a dedicated group.

'One of the major concerns is the lack of new skilled talent coming in and this is a key issue REC construction will want to present to the Government.

'One of the major strengths of having a dedicated group is the lobbying power, and we at the REC will seek to gain positive reforms that will benefit the industry as well as employers and jobseekers.'
