Clugston Construction has secured an £8m contract to build a waste treatment and recycling facility in North Lincolnshire.
The plant, to be built at Normanby Enterprise Park in Flixborough, will turn residual waste into Climafuel, an alternative fuel developed by CEMEX for use at its kilns at South Ferriby.
It is expected that the site, which will open seven days a week once completed, will process some 69,000 tonnes of rubbish each year.
The 10-acre site is part of a £250m scheme by North Lincolnshire County Council to reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill in the area by up to 87 per cent. and cut carbon dioxide emissions.
Steve Radcliffe, managing director of Clugston Construction, said: “We are delighted to be part of the successful team as design and build contractor for the facility in North Lincolnshire.
“We have worked closely with our partners WRG and North Lincolnshire County Council for some time to deliver what will be a sustainable waste management solution.”
