Resurfacing worker dies

A ROADWORKER was killed when he was hit by a car during resurfacing work on Tutbury Road, Burton upon Trent, in Staffordshire, on Saturday.

John Camplin, 46, from Halifax, was working behind a tarmac lorry when he was hit by the car. A local resident gave first aid to Mr Camplin until paramedics arrived. He was taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton but later died from his injuries.

Staffordshire Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Mr Camplin was thought to be working for Birmingham contractor Kiely Brothers at the time of his death.
