Rivals fish in deep waters

RIVAL firms are fishing to build a £6.5 million extension to The Deep aquarium in Hull.

Allenbuild, Clugston, Ballast, local firm Houlton, York firm Harrison and Lincolnshirebased C Spencer are pricing a 2,000 sq m retail and hospitality block at the acclaimed millennium project, designed by Sir Terry Farrell.

The Deep will choose a preferred firm for the deal in April, with work beginning in June.

The centre - originally built by Bovis Lend Lease - will remain fully open during construction.
