Road bidders in limbo

CONTRACTS WALES

FIRMS who pitched for a £35.7 million road scheme between England and Wales over a year ago are still waiting for the deal to be awarded.

The Highways Agency lined up Costain, Amec, Balfour Beatty, Mowlem and a Hochtief/ Alun Griffiths joint venture to bid for the A482 Pant to Llany-mynech job in December 2003.

One bidder said: 'We are under the impression it has fallen completely off the edge.'
