Robert Jones heads PFI drive

CONSTRUCTION and planning minister Robert Jones is to head up the Department of Environments drive to harness private finance.

His main priority will be to encourage local authorities to look more closely at PFI.

The government is presently consulting local authorities on measures which will encourage the use of design, build, finance and operate schemes. These will come into effect on April 1.

Mr Jones will also be responsible for ensuring the DoE and its 35 agencies explore PFI opportunities with private firms.
