Roof fall fine

Hampshire-based maintenance firm 1st Saxon Property Services was fined £3,000 at Chichester Magistrates' Court last week after an employee was paralysed in February 2003. Paul Dawkins, 38, was installing a roof tile ventilator from the top of a ladder on a single storey extension to gain access to the roof in Siddlesham, West Sussex, when he fell.He suffered severe spinal injuries and is now paralysed in the legs and arms.
