Roofing company takes Lafarge name

MATERIALS

FRENCH materials giant Lafarge aims to boost its position in the pitched roofing sector by changing the name of its UK roofing company to Lafarge Roofing on March 10.

According to Chris Morgan, managing director of Redland Roofing Systems UK, the name change will ensure the firm benefits from the resources of the global company.

He said: 'Combining our local and technical know-how with the global resources and financial backing of Lafarge will benefit our customers.'

Mr Morgan dismissed any suggestion that the £160 million fine slapped on Lafarge's plasterboard division for price-fixing would harm the business.

He said: 'I believe the appeal against the fine will succeed and do not think the Lafarge Roofing name will be tarnished.'
