Rotunda scare

NEWS IN BRIEF

Urban Splash's £25 million Rotunda refurbishment project in Birmingham was cordoned off last week after a pane of glass fell from the 21-storey tower. No-one was injured in the incident, which happened when high winds caused a sky platform to catch a piece of protective plastic ? dislodging a small piece of framework and break ing a pane of glass, which fell into Rotunda Square. Guy Jackson, regional director of Urban Splash, said: 'As soon as we became aware of the incident we stopped all work on the sky platforms and the areas below the Rotunda were immediately cordoned off. We have also been liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.'
