Sale talk swirls around Barr

The former chairman of Scottish contractor Barr has fuelled speculation that the construction firm could change hands in the near future.
Bill Barr, who led the Ayr-based contractor for 30 years before retiring two years ago, refused to comment on speculation that the firm had been put up for sale.

He told the Glasgow Herald: 'Although I am still a shareholder I have no further comment to make.'

The Herald says that accountants are marketing the firm with a price tag of £25m.

Managing director Tony Rush - in charge since July 2003 -returned the firm to profit after two years of losses.
