School and academy make progress


TWO education schemes worth a total of £40 million have reached milestones this week with a winner being chosen for one deal and a shortlist being drawn up for the other.

Taylor Woodrow has made the grade on a £20 million project at the Grace Academy Christian School in the West Midlands.

The firm has beaten Laing O'Rourke and Galliford Try for the deal at Walsall to build a new technology centre.

Further south, three teams are in competition for a £20 million complex in southeast London.

Balfour Beatty, Sir Robert McAlpine and Gleeson have all picked up documents for St Matthew's Academy, Deptford.
