Barratt has begun work on a 1 ha site in Maidstone, Kent, to turn a former girls' school into a development of town houses and apartments. The Mid-Kent School for Girls on Union Street is making way for 18 three-storey town houses and 19 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Completion of the £6.4 million scheme is due in May 2001.
