Screen's star quality

SUTTON Coldfield recycling equipment firm Excel Plant UK has developed an aggregate screen that removes up to 85 per cent of clay from reclaimed aggregate.

The firm's Starscreen, designed by manufacturer Neuenhauser and Excel for quarry to landfill firm Frank Lyons Group, avoids the clogging associated with conventional mesh design by using a star-shaped shredding concept.

The machine has been used by Frank Lyons to process materials from backfill to sludge, allowing it to clear a three-year stockpile of formerly useless material.
