Security tracker sees everything for A-Plant

A-PLANT has pumped half a million pounds into a security system for its hire fleet that will also enable it to track the running hours of its customers.

A deal with security specialist Enigma Vehicle Systems will see the hirer installing a customised tracking and monitoring product called Enigma Skyline on all its new self-propelled plant and compressors.

Based on mobile phone technology, it will enable A-Plant to track its equipment via the internet at its offices as well as via mobile phones and PDAs.

Skyline offers a range of sensor options, enabling the hirer to provide standard security tracking functions, from location monitoring to ring-fencing within a preset area.

But it will also allow monitoring of running hours, enabling monitoring of battery and coolant levels, or whether the engine covers are open or closed. The firm said it is also working on other functions it is not currently disclosing.
