Servite Homes Housing group's university challenge

HOUSING association Servite Homes is on the look-out for contractors with landbanks for a £20 million residential development.

Servite is preferred bidder on a flagship private finance deal for the University of Westminster.

When the deal is concluded early in 1998, Servite will take over management of the university's housing stock.

This comprises 1,200 student rooms at four London sites - at Harrow, Docklands, Marylebone Road and Lambeth.

Servite intends to build up the number of rooms to 2,000 over a five- year period. Paul Phillips, the firm's finance director, said:'We're looking for contractors who already have sites, but we are also looking for sites ourselves and, if we find suitable locations, the job will go out to tender.'
