Seven engineering consultants for £1.3bn Stratford development

Seven engineering consultants have been appointed to join the design panel for the new £1.3bn International Quarter in Stratford.

Lend Lease and London & Continental Railways have announced the appointments for the new commercial district in Stratford City, London E20.

Construction on The International Quarter could start in Spring 2013, when the site will be handed over by Olympic Delivery Authority for the post-Games legacy work to commence after the ODA granted planning approval in November 2011.

The engineers providing building services to the panel are:

BDP Environmental Engineering

Foreman Roberts

Grontmij

Hoare Lea

In addition, structural services will be provided by:

Arup

Curtins

Ramboll

Lend Lease project director Matt Beasley said: “These practices have been appointed to the design panel for the commercial workplace element of the TIQ Stratford City project.

“The appointments form part of a team put together to deliver the scheme in the years ahead. With up to 4 million sq ft of workplace to deliver, the panel approach means the development team can match firms to individual plots and deliver concurrently.”

TIQ will be one of the UK’s largest mixed-use developments and will transform the Olympic Park by creating a dynamic commercial hub in the heart of Stratford City. The development will comprise four million sq ft of Grade ‘A’ office space, a new hotel and 350 homes.

Outline planning consent has been secured and construction can start following the completion of the Games, when the site will be handed over by Olympic Delivery Authority, providing possession to occupiers in late 2014 / early 2015.

The architectural element of the panel comprises BDP, Gensler, Pringle Brandon Drew, TP Bennett and Woods Bagot.
