Shame the cowboy firms

I UNDERSTAND that a few years ago the HSE made a large number of inspectors retire early to save money.

Perhaps it is now time for those inspectors to be brought back to make sure all projects are inspected.

It is only with effective policing by the HSE that the safety will improve on our construction sites.

A 'shame list' could be issued by the HSE each month to the construction press, naming those companies that have improvement and prohibition notices issued against them.

Persistent offenders should be stopped from trading until they have shown, following retraining, that they can comply with the regulations.
