Shard concrete job tendered

While Keltbray presses on with demolition work at the site of the planned 310m high shard in London, Mace is preparing to send out tender documents for the £40 million concrete contract later this month.

Byrne Bros and John Doyle are both likely to pitch for the deal but a third bidder, Laing O'Rourke-owned Expanded, is not expected to work up a price.

Documents are due to come back next month with Mace making a decision in late spring.

It has been tasked by Shard developer Teighmore to come up with a £300 million fixed price for the work by June.
