SHARE WATCH: Construction shares enjoy rare steady morning

Construction firms experienced a relatively steady morning on the stock market for the first time in months today with the majority of shares enjoying modest rises.

The FTSE 350 Construction and Materials index rose 0.4 per cent to 3,158 while the FTSE 350 Support Services index went up 0.9 per cent to 2,638.

All contractors but for Balfour Beatty saw their shares rise, although Balfour’s drop was just 0.6 per cent to 301 pence a share.

The consultants were the worst effected this morning with all but Mouchel Group dropping.

WS Atkins shares were down 1.5 per cent, WYG down 3 per cent, WSP Group down 4.1 per cent and Waterman down 0.7 per cent.
