SHARE WATCH: Construction shares make good start to the week

Construction shares have begun the week on a high with prices rising on the back of a mini boom from mining stocks.

The FTSE 350 Construction and Materials index was up 1.2 per cent at 3,399 points in early trading while the FTSE 350 Support Services rose 1.3 per cent to 2,750 points.

Ennstone was up 50 per cent, but the company’s share price is teetering ever closer towards zero, down at 0.45 pence a share.

Plant hire firms Lavendon Group and Speedy Hire both had good mornings, each rising 6 per cent, while building materials firm Wolseley was up 6 per cent.

The FTSE 100 itself was also up, rising 0.7 per cent to 4,311 points.
