Shepherd wins uni job

THE UNIVERSITY of Leeds looks to have chosen a winner for a £14 million contract to revamp its student facilities.

The development will provide six floors of education facilities along with meeting rooms, management suites and an internet cafe.

Shepherd looks set to land the deal after beating competition from HBG, Balfour Beatty, Miller and Allenbuild for the design and build contract.

The student services building will be largely open plan, with teaching space and conference rooms for senior management.

Work will start early next year, with completion set for 2008.

A separate £27 million deal to redevelop student accommodation is due out for tender in the next few months.
