Costain will start enabling works next month for a £60 million contract to build the Diamond, a major new science facility, seen modelled here, at Didcot in Oxfordshire, after being confirmed as preferred bidder by client Diamond Light Source. Work on the main buildings, which will be used to produce high intensity X-rays for examining organic matter and materials, will start in the autumn.
