Shortage of workers with right skills

The number of firms having problems recruiting skilled workers has increased by 50 per cent in the past decade, new figures showed today.
A survey of 6,000 businesses by the British Chambers of Commerce revealed that 43 per cent reported difficulties compared with 29 per cent in 1994.

Director general David Frost said: 'Employers tell us all the time that they are frustrated that young people are not equipped with the right skills for the workplace.'
