Shot British student: Israeli court verdict due

An Israeli military court will today give its verdict in the case of a soldier charged with the manslaughter of a British student.
Tom Hurndall, 22, from north London, had been shepherding Palestinian children to safety at a checkpoint in the Gaza Strip in April 2003 when he was shot in the head.

The Israeli army initially disputed claims that a soldier had targeted him at the Rafah refugee camp but eventually ordered a full inquiry after pressure from the victim's family.
