Shropshire offers up £6.5m of social housing work

Shropshire Council is looking for contractors to build 64 affordable homes in a deal worth up to £6.5 million.

The contract includeds design and build over several sites in Shropshire, including all mechanical and electrical and external works.

The contract is worth between £5m to £6.5m.

Funding for 62 units is partially from the Homes and Communities Agency, which means the units will need to be built to associated standards.

There are a mixture of units ranging from 2-bed terrace houses to larger 3-bed properties and bungalows.

Shropshire Council plans to form an arms-length management organisation (ALMO) called Shropshire Town and Rural Housing to manage its housing stock.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 13 March 2013.
