SIG buys 6 companies for £41m

SIG, the UK's laregest specialist roofing products supplier, has bought six companies for £41 million since September this year.
Sheffield-based SIG has spent £103 million on 17 acquisitions in 2005. Its latest raid includes five UK based firms with combined annual sales of £57 million and a German interiors business with a turnover of £5 million, adding 41 trading sites to SIG's 440 existing outlets.

SIG posted record first-half results in the six months to June 30 achieving growth in each of its geographic regions. Pre-tax profits rose 28.4 per cent to £39.4 million compared to the same period a year earlier and like-for-like sales grew 11.6 per cent. Overall sales increased by 18.4 per cent to £769 million.
