Sir Elton ties the knot

Sir Elton John and his long-term partner David Furnish are among nearly 700 gay couples expected to 'tie the knot' in England and Wales today.
The two, who held a star-studded joint stag party at a plush West End nightclub earlier this week, will hold their civil partnership ceremony at Windsor's Guildhall, Berkshire - the elegant 17th century building where the Prince of Wales married the Duchess of Cornwall in April.

The Civil Partnership Act enables same-sex couples to obtain legal recognition for their relationship, granting them new rights in areas such as employment, pension and inheritance but the partnerships are not officially regarded as gay marriages.
