Site inquest adjourned

AN INQUEST into the deaths of four building workers has been adjourned so that police can decide whether criminal charges should be brought.

The workers died when an office building collapsed last year in Ashford, Surrey.

Det Supt David Don said: Initially the Health and Safety Executive carried out inquiries into the collapse of the building and, as a result of their findings, the matter was handed over to the police so that a criminal case can be pursued.

Our inquiries are extending back to the original construction of the building in 1969 and we hope to conclude our investigations within four or five weeks.
