Site purchased for £43m hospital

A 13-acre area has been bought to build the new £43 million Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan hospital in Gwent.

The plot in the Westgate area, south of Ebbw Vale will be the first major project to be completed on the £300m long-term regeneration and redevelopment of the former Corus steelworks.

The Works is scheduled to open in 2010.

Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan will be the first of six new hospitals to be built in Gwent as part of the Clinical Futures modernisation programme. The hospital is scheduled to open in 2010.
