Six firms chosen for Staffordshire housing revamp

Balfour Beatty, The Casey Group, Keepmoat, Thomas Vale, local firm Toft Johnson and Wates have all been picked to regenerate neighbourhoods and renovate rundown homes under a housing pathfinder for RENEW North Staffordshire.
The six were picked from a shortlist of 13 and will now be invited to tender for improvement works for 64,100 properties in Stoke-on-Trent, parts of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Biddulph East

Renew was awarded £30 million in housing renewal funding from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and it is bidding for another £70 million for 2006-2008.

Work will include street upgrades, home refurbishment, new public spaces and infrastructure work such as drainage, road works and services.
