Six qualify for college place


THE SHORTLIST for a £33 million plan to build a new college in Essex is due to be announced this week.

Epping College wants to update its ageing buildings at its current site in Loughton.Work is due to start next January for a September 2007 finish.

In all 27 firms expressed interest in the deal and the college whittled that figure down to 14. It is hoping to shortlist six contractors to work up bids.

Among those who have pre-qualified are Miller, Norwest Holst, Fitzpatrick, HBG, Kier, Galliford Try and Amec.The main block of the complex will run across 15,000 sq m.
