SkillBuild's quest for young construction excellence

Construction News has teamed up with ConstructionSkills to showcase young talent working in Britain’s building industry.

The competition, SkillBuild, is open to all 17-22 year olds working or training in construction through FE colleges or work-based apprenticeships. It covers construction trades including bricklaying, carpentry, joinery, roofing, stonemasonry and painting and decorating.

There are 12 regional SkillBuild competitions throughout April, May and June, and entrants can apply up until a few days before each one.

The regional heats culminate in a national final in Leeds in October and national winners will have the opportunity to represent their country at WorldSkills.

So if you think you or someone you know should enter SkillBuild, visit www.cskills.org/skillbuild to find your nearest competition and details on how to sign up.
