Heathrow airport's new £50 million air traffic control tower has been topped out.The Richard Rogers-designed 87 m-high tower will go live during the winter of 2006-07 and will give controllers one of the best views from any control tower in the world.

Gold bolts were inserted during the topping-out to mark completion of the main structure.
